Cleaning Clayton’s 7 Cities

On Saturday, April 29, members of the GFWC GA Morrow Civic Woman’s Club (MCWC) participated in “Cleaning Clayton’s 7 Cities Initiative” in partnership with the Walking in Authority Teen Council (WIATC) and their Executive Director, Sparkle Adams. Litter was picked up at the Morrow site, which began by City Hall. MCWC presented Renee Saunders Knight, City of Morrow Council Member and Mayor Pro Tem, a MCWC shirt that she wore as did the four club members. MCWC helped register participants and were adult leaders for the teens’ groups. It was a great day!

International: Wells for Hope

Follow Majok on Facebook on his journey back to South Sudan https://www.facebook.com/seedofsouthsudan

You can learn more about Wells for Hope at their website  WellsforHope.org

In March, MCWC joined Majok Marier and other Lost Boys of Sudan in a Walk for Water to raise awareness and money for the Wells for Hope foundations. Wells for Hope builds wells in South Sudan. Without the wells, women and girls must walk four to six miles one way each day for fresh, clean water for their families. After providing clean water and sanitation, Wells for Hope plans to start a clinic.

Majok on World Water Day installed a water well in Luelpanang, South Sudan. Everyone is super happy with this, as it reaches people who are about 25 miles east of Rumbek, a large town in Lakes State area of the country, a very underdeveloped part of the world that was without access to clean water.

The Legislative Action Center is a powerful tool for GFWC’s public issues and advocacy efforts. Track bills, contact your local representative and take action on issues germane to GFWC Resolutions.
